An os peroneum is a small accessory bone located at the lateral plantar aspect of the cuboid within the substance of the peroneus longus tendon as it arches around the cuboid. It is very common, seen in up to 26% of feet 1 .
The peroneal retinacula (singular: peroneal retinaculum ) are fibrous retaining bands which bind down the tendons of the peroneus longus and brevis as they run across the side of the ankle . ( Retinaculum is Latin for retainer ).
