His television roles include Gaius Julius Caesar in the series Rome , DCI James Langton in Above Suspicion , Bud Hammond in Political Animals and Mance Rayder in the Emmy Award -winning Game of Thrones . As a stage actor, Hinds has enjoyed spells with the Royal Shakespeare Company , the Royal National Theatre in London and six seasons with Glasgow Citizens' Theatre , [3] [4] and he has continued to work on stage throughout his career.

Based on Jason Matthews' espionage novel, Red Sparrow tells the story of Russian intelligence officer Dominika Egorova, who is drafted against her will to become a Sparrow, a trained seductress. She is assigned to operate against a CIA officer who handles the agency's most sensitive penetration of Russian intelligence, and falls for him, to the point of considering defection.

Ciarán began his professional stage career in 1976 in the production of Cinderella at the Glasgow Citizens' Theatre, and performed in many more productions with the company for several years.
